Assistance for the Reform of Vietnamese Journalism Schools

School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University(Singapore)
The following activities are scheduled for this year.
- Short-term, intensive training in Vietnam: (May 24 to 28 in Hanoi)
Dr. Ang Peng Hwa (Dean) and Ms. Sharen Liu (Departmental head) of Nanyang Technological University's School of Communication Studies and one other person will visit Vietnam and conduct short-term training seminars. About thirty university faculty members and graduate students from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh universities will be invited to the seminars
- Lecture for university students
Dr. Ang Peng Hwa will give lectures to journalism students at Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh universities.
- Short-term, intensive training courses in Singapore(July 12 to 16, 2004)
Ten students will be selected from the abovementioned group to visit Singapore and receive technical training using the equipment and facilities of Nanyang Technological University. The topics to be covered by the training course are on-line journalism and international broadcasting.
- Textbook creation (April 2004 to February 2005):
Under Dr. Vu Quang Hao's leadership, the members of Hanoi University will be in charge of preparing the content of the textbooks, and the members of Ho Chi Minh University will be responsible for textbook design, publication rights, and printing. In this way, both beneficiaries of the project will contribute to the production of the textbooks. The School of Communication Studies at Nanyang Technological University will provide advice on the preparation of textbook content.
