Establishing an Online Resource Center for NPOs/NGOs

Voluntary Health Association of India (VHAI/India)
India has a vast amount of information and many mature non-profit organizations. The Voluntary Health Association of India (VHAI) will make full use of these characteristics as well as its extensive network of domestic NPOs/NGOs by developing an NPO/NGO Online Resource Center (ORC) for making publications on regional development issues available via the web. Future strategies for expansion and constructive utilization of the ORC will also be proposed as part of the project.
The following activities will be conducted this year.
- Establishing the project's implementation structure and cooperative relationship with relevant personnel and organizations
VHAI will decide on the appropriate implementation structure for the project with the help of external consultants. VHAI will explain the main purpose of the project to its member organizations, government institutions, universities and think tanks, and call for their cooperation.
- Selecting organizations for the Online Resource Center (ORC) and the types on information to be included on the website.
VHAI will narrow down the list of prospective organizations to approximately 3000, and select the types of information that will be made available on the website.
- Creating ORC pamphlets and distributing them to relevant personnel/organizations
Pamphlets will be produced and distributed to NPOs/NGOs and other institutions in order to gain the participation of as many of these organizations as possible.
- Providing participating organizations with guidance on how to use the Online Resource Center
The project will provide participating organizations that lack expertise in Internet technology with guidance on how to use the ORC.
- Designing the ORC
The website structure/design and database system will be developed, and data will be collected and edited with the help of external consultants.
