Comparative Studies of NGOs among China, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and Vietnam

7,200,000 yen[Self Operated/Commissioned Project]
The Sasakawa Peace Foundation

The project will conduct case studies in China, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and Vietnam, to find out how policy discussions and proposals are carried out between the various governments and NGO's. Based on those results, the specific traits and issues surrounding the NPO sector in each of the countries will be identified, and policies/measures for developing the entire sector will be proposed.

In this first year of the project, a "preliminary research report" will be drafted for each country as preliminary material for drawing up the final country reports. The framework for the country reports is as follows.

  1. Laws and regulations related to NPO's in the various countries, and issues related to NPO's.
  2. Mapping the current state of governmental dialogue/policy in the various countries.
  3. Organizing the background and underlying issues for each of the selected case studies.
The same two types of case studies will be selected for each country.
  4. Detailed plan for surveys/case studies by country.
The details of the case studies will be presented according to the existing research methods.
