Studying a Satellite Account on Nonprofit Institutions and its Relations to the System of National Accounts in Japan

The following activities will be conducted this year.
- Establishing a Research and Working Committees (April)
The 13-member research committee will comprise primarily members that statisticians, economists, experts on statistics and accounting, and experts from nonprofit organizations. The research counsel will conduct surveys and research on NPI satellite accounts. A 6-member working committee will also be established in order to take care of practical tasks such as drafting reports. The Institute of Statistical Research will be in charge of the secretariat, and the research and working committees will meet on a monthly basis.
- Reading/supervising a translation of the SNA/NPI handbook (April to September)
Each of the members of the research committee will be responsible for reading and supervising the translation of chapters of the SNA/NPI handbook.
- Research Committee (May to February 2004)
The topics to be discussed this year by the research committee are as follows.
- Study sessions on NPI (Experts on NPI will be invited as lecturers)
- Understanding the contents of the SNA/NPI handbook
- Definition and Classification of NPI
- Comparative study of the NPI satellite account and the Japanese System of National Accounts (SNA)
