Expert System on Armed Conflict

The project is in its final year of its 3-year period, and will build on the fruits of the project by conducting the following activities.
  1. Expansion and improvement of the data set on armed conflict and factor/structure model: (April to December 2003)
    The project will take into account areas that need improvement on the prototype system, and take initiatives to improve the armed conflict factor/structure model, as well as collect new data necessary for expanding the system.

  2. Expansion of the System: (April to February 2003)
    More case studies and an improved version of the factor/structure model will be incorporated into the system. The user-friendliness of the user interface will be improved, and the prototype will be revised and improved to the point where it is ready to be publicized.

  3. Conducting survey/research abroad for the purpose of maintaining the aforementioned data.
    • Central European University in Hungary (June 2003)
      Purpose: To attend the CEEISA/ISA International Conference and collect new information related to conflict studies.
    • The International Institution for Strategic Studies (UK) (September 2003)
      Purpose: To attend the Strategic Evaluation Meeting and collect practical information on conflict issues.
    • International Peace Research Institute, Oslo (October 2003)
      Purpose: To visit the newly established Centre for the Study of Civil War and collect the most up-to-date information on civil war studies.
