Intellectual Property Rights and Traditional Knowledge

Queen Mary Intellectual Property Research Institute, University of London (UK)
The project is in its final year and will continue/complete the case study analysis of traditional knowledge and the current legal structure in regard to traditional knowledge. An international symposium will be held to release the fruits of the project.
- Continuing and completing the research:
- Analysis of Case Studies related to Traditional Knowledge - The project will continue/complete its research on case studies regarding traditional knowledge and intellectual property rights in nine Asian countries (Australia, Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam.)
- Research/Analysis on the legal structure surrounding intellectual property rights in the target regions - The project will conduct research on the framework for regulating access and protecting traditional knowledge in the target nations, and analyze the current situation in each of the countries.
- International Symposium
An international symposium will be held either in Bangkok or Tokyo in order to announce the research results. The following people are expected to give a report at the symposium.
Prof.Zheng Chengsi (Chuna Academy of Social Sciences), Dr.Bijwajit Dhar (Indian Law Institute), Dr.Christoph Antons (Asian Law Institute, Indonesia), Dr.Ida Mahdesia (Islamic University), and others.
