Islam and IT Revolution

In its final year, the project will focus on the theme of "Islam in Asia."

  1. International Symposium (One or two days in November 2003):
    The two-day symposium will focus on Asia, the largest Islamic region in the world, and invite experts from Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines as well as other Asian countries.

    Location: Waseda University Ibuka Memorial Hall and Waseda University International Conference Center
    Organizer: Waseda University Institute of Egyptology
    Theme: "Islam and IT Revolution in Asia" (Tentative)
    Speakers: Experts on Islam and Information Technology from Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines
    Participants: Faculty/Staff of Waseda University's Institute of Egyptology, and Waseda University students

  2. Compilation of conference proceedings (February 2004):
    The conference proceedings (Keynote speeches and panel discussion) will be complied in the format of a written volume and instructional video. The proceedings will be distributed among relevant individuals and organizations, and will also be made available on the website. The video will be used as a means for promoting the conference, and as material for lectures.
