Transcending Borders with Education On-Line

Micronesian Seminar (Micronesian Alliance)


  1. Creation of an on-line album
    1. Collect photographic materials (approximately 2000) in Japan and the Micronesian region.
    2. Catalog the photographs and compile them into a database. Collect cultural heritage materials/resources to be used for editing/compiling the photo catalog.
    3. Photos will be sorted according to the following themes and compiled in an on-line album:"The Sokehs Rebellion" (April to May), "What the First European Saw" (June to July), "The Japanese Boom" (August to September), "What the Sugar King Wrought" (October to November), "Carolinians in the Marianas" (December to January), "Founding the Japanese Colony" (February to March)

  2. Discussion Forum
    On-line seminars targeting junior colleges in the region will be organized. The seminars will focus on three topics, and the discussions will be ongoing throughout the year.

    a) Teacher:
      Father Francis X. Hexel (living in Ponape) and Ms. Elizabeth Rechebei (living in Saipan)
    b) Participants:
      Teachers and students from Palau Community College, College of Micronesia, and the College of Marshall Islands
    c) Tentative topics:
    1. Regional Cooperation
    2. Economic Development
    3. Healthcare and Education

  3. Expansion of Web resources Additional information on "The Catholic Church in the Micronesian Region" will be included on the Website.
