Program for Promoting Japan-China Exchange in the Field of Security

The project will invite the China International Strategy Society to promote understanding of Japan, as well as send a delegation of SDF members to China, in order to deepen their understanding of the country.

  1. Study tour to Japan: A group will be organized comprising members of the National Defense Division of the Liberation Army that will visit Japan.
    • Visitors to Japan: 30 experts on military issues
    • Date: Two weeks at the end of July (Tentative)
    • Participants:Approximately 100 (including those who have participated in the exchange in the past)
    • Tours: Defense Agency, the National Institute for Defense Studies, Self Defense Force facilities in and around Tokyo, and cultural sites such as Kyoto.


  2. Study tour to China: A group will be organized comprising members of the International Planning Division of the Bureau of Defense Policy that will visit China.
    • Visitors to China: 10 Japanese experts and several members of the Foundation
    • Date: 10 days at the end of February
    • Participants:
      Approximately 100 (including people who have participated in the exchange in the past)
    • Tours: Military facilities around the Peking and Shanghai areas, and historical/cultural heritage sites.


  3. Both the Japanese and Chinese experts will create and update materials and sources used in training.
    • Japan: Update the Japanese and Chinese editions of the "training information materials for members of the People's Liberation Army visiting Japan" drawn up by the Foundation.
    • China: Experts currently receiving training through the "Cultivating Specialists in International Security Issues" project will draw up information materials on the current situation in China.
