China Association for International Friendly Contact (China)
Since fiscal 1999, the Fund has held research exchange forums each year (on a scale of about fifty people) with the support of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. The 1999 forum was held on the theme "Japanese Political Diplomacy", the 2000 forum on "Japanese Social Thought", the 2001 forum on "Economic Cooperation between Japan and East Asia", and the 2002 forum on "Japanese Culture". This year, in the final year of the 5- year project, the theme for the forum is "Japan-China relations within the Global Context".
The details of the forum are as follows.
- Participants:
Twenty young Japan researchers from governmental research institutes, universities, and private organizations, and five young Japanese researchers.(In addition, an equal number of privately funded participants, and representatives from the Japanese Embassy in China will participate as observers. The press will also be invited.)
- Implementation Committee:
The committee will be made up of members of the China Association for International Friendly Contact and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
- Research Presentation:
Presentations will be made in Peking in November 2003 (3 days, 50 participants)
- Schedule
- June to October:
An implementation committee will be selected. The members will carry out prior preparations such as the dates and selection of participants.
- November:
A roundup meeting will be held inviting the Japanese participants, and papers will be presented by field.
- December to January:
A collection of papers will be compiled and a report will be drafted.
- February:
The report will be submitted and distributed among related divisions of the government and media.
- Forming an exchange organization for young Japan researchers:
A secretariat will be established within the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, comprising mainly people involved in the project, and an exchange organization for young Japan researchers that can operate independently will be formed to serve as the window for promoting exchange.
