Sasakawa Scholarship System for Chinese Students Studying Japanese, Phase II

  • Activities: A scholarship committee will be set up in April (five for each university) and select/provide administrative support to the scholarship students. The tentative plan is for the scholarship to start in October.
  • Scholarship Amount: 2,000 yuan a year per person (Approximately 30,000 yen in terms of Japanese currency)
  • Number of students: 105 undergraduate and graduate students studying Japanese in one of 13 universities such as the Beijing Foreign Studies University.
  • Conditions/Eligibility:
    1. A Japanese major currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate course
    2. Students in the top tier with clear goals and good grades (including in a second foreign language)
    3. Well-conducted person who abides by rules and the law, and is in good health.
    4. Exceptional essay (approx. 1200 words)
  • Features of the Scholarship:
    1. Can be received without regard to other scholarships.
    2. Awarded yearly

  • Promote the building of a network of Japanese students/scholars, and conduct a follow-up survey on alumni.
