Research Capacity Building of Economics in National University of Laos

De La Salle University (Philippines)


We will set up a secretariat at De La Salle University in the Philippines and conduct the following projects in the first year.
  1. Forming a multinational team of advisors: April 2003
    A team of advisors made up of four university instructors from the Philippines, Thailand and Japan will be formed, and will formulate training programs.
  2. Conducting Training Programs: May 2003 ( in Laos, targeting twenty instructors from the Faculty of Economics and Management of the National University of Laos.)
    First week: "Timeframe of the Survey Research", "Overview of the Survey research'" (tentative)
    Second Week: "Theories and notions of survey research" ,"Research method theory", "Statistical data analysis skills," and so forth.
  3. Research in Laos: June to August 2003
    Based on the above-mentioned research "2", the twenty trainees will write research papers in either Laotian or English, and receive advice from the multinational team of advisors.
  4. Holding a seminar for evaluating and providing instruction for the research papers: October 2003 (for a period of one week)
    The advisors will provide advice in Laos on the essays that the trainees revised after having received the above-mentioned instructions "3",
  5. Final papers/essays: March 2004
    After the abovementioned instructions "4" are given, the trainees will once again revise their essays and submit them to the National University of Laos, and the De La Salle University where the secretariat of this project is located.
