This year we will conduct human resources training related to the administration of a market economy system, targeting mid-level public officials from the central and regional governments of Myanmar, as well as projects for fostering young journalists.
- "Training Workshop for Mid-level Regional Public Officials" in Myanmar.
A four-day workshop on economic administration will be held in Mandalay around May 2003, inviting about sixty regional administrative officials.
- Conducting a study-tour for officers of the Chairman of Civil Service Selection and Training Board (Myanmar):
Sometime around August 2003, we plan to invite officers of the Chairman of Civil Service Selection and Training board in Myanmar to Japan and some Southeast Asian nations (tentatively planned to be Thailand and Malaysia) to observe the civil servants system in those countries.
- "Workshop for Mid-level Officials in the Central Government" in Myanmar:
Sometime around the end of November 2003, we will hold a one-week workshop with the help of specialists from Thailand, Malaysia, and South Korea, inviting approximately 120 mid-level public officials from the 34 ministries and government offices, and private organizations. The tentative topics for 2003 are
- Social Development Management,
- Microeconomics (Trade, Investment, Industry, Finance etc.),
- Information Technology Management (Electronic Government etc.),
- and Environmental Management.
- Organizing study tours to South Korea, Thailand, and Malaysia (planned for mid-February 2004) Approximately thirty participants will be selected from the abovementioned group "3".
- Training young journalists: Training five young journalists with the help of the Myanmar Times.
- Commissioning Projects: In addition to the Myanmar times, SPF will commission CSSTB (Myanmar), Kyun Hee Univeristy in South Korea, Malaysia Institute of Economic Research, and Chulalongkorn University in Thailand to conduct projects related to human resources training of public officials.
- Printing and Publishing teaching materials: Teaching materials for human resources training will be made in English and Burmese and distributed to the relevant parties.
