Training to Prepare Cambodia for the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA)

In this second year of the project, we will conduct a domestic training course and study-tour in Malaysia. The selection process will be carried out by the Economics and Finance Institute affiliated with the Ministry of Economics and Finance, Cambodia. The details are as follows.

  1. Domestic Training Preparatory meeting (July 2003 (Five days) in Phnom Penh)
    Participants: Four policymakers from Cambodia/Malaysia
  2. Domestic Training in Cambodia (September 2003 (For Seven days) in Phnom Penh)
    Objective: For the Cambodian economic policymakers to be given guidance and advice regarding the AFTA, and desirable trade and economic policies after Cambodia joins the AFTA.
  3. Study Tour Preparatory Meeting (October 2003 (Five days) in Phnom Penh)
    Participants: Four policymakers from Cambodia/Malaysia
  4. Study Tour in Malaysia (December 2003 (seven days) in Kuala Lumpur)
    Purpose: To give Cambodian economic policymakers the opportunity to gain first hand knowledge and understanding about economic management after joining AFTA.
    Participants: 15 Economic Policymakers
    Sites to be visited: Organizations related to international trade and economics, and various finance related ministries and government offices
