International Symposium on Influenza Pandemics in Asia:
'Lessons and Challenges Examined from Multidisciplinary Global Perspectives' on March 23 (Tue)

The Sasakawa Peace Foundation, in cooperation with Tohoku University Graduate School of Medicine, will hold an International Symposium on Influenza Pandemics on March 23rd in Tokyo. The objective of the symposium is to share experiences and difficulties that Asian countries have faced since the outbreak of Influenza A (H1N1), and discuss lessons learned and possible avenues of future action from multidisciplinary and global perspectives including economics, science, technology and security. Government officials from ASEAN countries as well as experts in relevant fields from international institutions will join the discussions.

For the next fiscal year, conclusions drawn at the symposium will be used to develop a concept and strategies that would allow Asia to better prepare against the common threat of pandemics and other infectious diseases.
